I'd say Mafia 2 is on par with the first one. It's not as pretty as the remake of Mafia 1, but the gameplay and story hold up. Mafia 3 is overall fine, especially the major story missions. It's just that it went full openworld, with countless collectibles and a ton of generic/repetitive fluff that surrounds the actually interesting content.
